ANTARES IN STAR TREK
The name Antares appears through out Star Trek history several times:

Starfleet cargo ship (TOS: "Charlie X") - unseen cargo ship until recent digital-remastered version (seen below).
Talarian ship Batris (TNG: "Heart of Glory") - a modular vessel with cargo containers.
Corvallen freighter (TNG: "Face of the Enemy") - another boxy, but different design.
Bajoran version whose warp drive is broken (TNG: "Ensign Ro") - a ship with a triangular shape.
Kasidy Yates's ship Xhosa (DS9: "Way of the Warrior", "For the Cause") - a modification of the Batris.
ANTARES IN EARTH HISTORY
Historically, the name Antares comes from the Greek name meaning "equal to ares" due to its reddish appearance similar to the planet Mars ('Ares' in Greek). Antares is known as the "heart of the scorpion" as a star in the constellation Scorpio, that is featured on our patch.
Antares is a red supergiant that is 15-18 times larger than our own sun and resides approximately 460 light years from earth. Supergiants are very bright despite their 'cool' nature as far as stars are concerned. Antares is best seen in Scorpio at the end of May, when it is visible in the night sky to those in the Northern Hemisphere.
